WellSky® Foundation Invests $200,000 to Expand National Efforts Combatting Food Insecurity

Grants to Meals on Wheels America and Feeding America® will help connect more individuals and families with critical nutrition and support services

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — June 10, 2026 The WellSky Foundation today announced $200,000 in charitable grants to support the nationwide efforts of Meals on Wheels America and Feeding America, two leading organizations working to address food insecurity and improve health outcomes for millions of people. Each organization will receive a $100,000 grant to expand outreach initiatives that connect individuals and families with essential nutrition resources and community-based support services.

The investment reflects the WellSky Foundation’s commitment to addressing social determinants of health. Food insecurity remains one of the most significant barriers to health and independence. People experiencing food insecurity are more likely to experience chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, and often face greater challenges managing existing health conditions. Food insecurity also contributes to poorer long-term outcomes and increased healthcare utilization. By supporting organizations that connect people with nutritious food and essential community services, the foundation is helping improve health, promote independence, and strengthen communities.

“We are incredibly grateful to the WellSky Foundation for their partnership and support of our bold goal to End the Wait® for seniors in need,” said Kristine Templin, chief development and marketing officer at Meals on Wheels America. “Across the country, local Meals on Wheels providers are seeing growing demand from older adults facing hunger, isolation, and increasing barriers to care. This generous investment will help strengthen the network’s ability to reach more seniors with not only nutritious meals, but also the connection, safety and support that help older adults live independently and with dignity.”

The grant to Feeding America will help expand access to food assistance resources through the organization’s nationwide network of local food banks for individuals and families across the country. As demand for food assistance continues to affect communities across the country, the investment will support efforts to increase awareness of available services, reduce barriers to access, and help more people obtain the nutritious food they need to support their health and well-being.

“At the WellSky Foundation, we believe health and wellness begin long before a person enters a healthcare setting,” said Brett Fuller, executive director of the WellSky Foundation. “Access to nutritious food is fundamental to helping people heal, remain independent, and thrive. Meals on Wheels America and Feeding America are making a meaningful difference in communities nationwide, and we are proud to support their efforts to ensure more people can access the resources they need to live healthier lives.”

Through charitable giving, volunteerism, and strategic partnerships, the WellSky Foundation supports organizations working to address key social determinants of health, including food insecurity, housing instability, transportation barriers, and social isolation. By investing in programs that improve access to essential resources, the foundation seeks to advance whole-person wellness and help build stronger, healthier communities. Since its founding in 2019, the WellSky Foundation has donated nearly $4 million to more than 40 organizations.
